BROOKLYN AT WORK: A SURVIVAL GUIDE TO THE POST-CRISIS-CITY
The studio “Brooklyn at Work: a survival guide to the post-crisis city” is a continuation of the 2011-2012 research by design studio “Studio Brooklyn: varieties on city life”. 'At Work' can be seen as the fourth theme in this body of resaerch complementing the earlier three: housing, infrastructure and otherness.
This focus on one theme underlines the ambition of this years
research by design effort to anamyse the urban condition and it's physical form
through the thematic lens, and not necessarily understand the urban complexity
at large. We strongly advocate the idea that tertiary functions such as
production can be seen as integral part of the city and therefore need to be
part of the designers point of view.
